About the Oxford Discover Books

Story-based English language learning has significantly developed my daughter's skills. However, she turns five this year and I would like to introduce other contents in her English language learning. So I decided to search for a book that meets our needs. I was looking for a book that is not based on traditional EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teaching but the one that brings CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning)  into her life.

"In a CLIL lesson, we open the windows of our classrooms and invite our amazing world inside. Students discover the world for themselves, using the tools of language in a meaningful way as they move through the lesson. As a result, language fluency is increased." says Charles Vilina co-author of the Oxford Discover series.

The Show and Tell course, which is part of the Oxford Discover series designed for preschoolers, encourages children to be curious and questioning and to think beyond their perspectives. The books bring the world into their classroom by learning about their lives at kindergarten, at home, in their town, etc. They learn and use the language to communicate real information like playing, doing simple maths and easy scientific experiments, making pictures by using interesting techniques, running, jumping, dancing and doing yoga, making musical instruments and much more. Stories, hand-eye coordination practice and letter formation activities lead to reading and writing simple sentences. Problem-solving activities encourage children to think critically and creatively. Values lessons teach children how to behave both inside and outside the classroom.

Oxford Discover develops the communication skills and thinking skills students need for success in the 21st century. It builds on students' natural curiosity by enabling them to ask their own questions, find their own answers, and explore the world around them.
